Mental health awareness
Building on the success of the Working Together for Kids’ Mental Health program, the Centre launched a mental health awareness initiative designed to build common ground that will support diverse professionals, families, children, youth and decision-makers in their work.
Mental health awareness workshop
The Centre has developed a training program in mental health awareness for educators, administrators, mental health service providers and health-care professionals. The workshop includes:
- Basic knowledge and skills required to understand common child and youth mental health issues.
- A common understanding and language for participants.
- A snapshot of local and provincial resources and how to use them.
- Sample case studies
- Role play scenario
- Stigma Activity: Earache/Psychache
- School letters
- Glossary of terms
- Additional Resources
- Workshop feedback form
The Centre will revise, adapt and expand the mental health awareness workshop to respond to unique needs among different sectors and settings. We are taking mental health learning further and will soon be offering more in-depth information on specific topics. These include stigma, bullying, evidence-informed practice and youth and family engagement.
