Evidence Links

Below you will find a list of databases that can provide relevant information on child and youth mental health. Please feel free to consult them.

CMA Infobase

Maintained by the Canadian Medical Association, the CMA Infobase includes guidelines produced or endorsed in Canada by a national, provincial/territorial or regional medical or health organization, professional society, government agency or expert panel. Records include information on the guideline development process and links to full text and related documents when available. From September 2004 to February 2010, a quality rating of the guideline development process for guidelines reviewed by the Ontario Guidelines Advisory Committee was incorporated. Those guidelines were rated using the AGREE tool criteria.

National Guideline Clearinghouse

An initiative of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ),the National Guideline Clearinghouse™ (NGC) is a comprehensive database of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines and related documents. Each guideline includes a brief and complete summary, PDA download options, and links to full text when available. Other resources are available from the home page.

National Library of Guidelines

The National Library of Guidelines provides access to guidelines for the National Health Service. It includes guidelines produced by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) and other agencies within the United Kingdom. Guidelines from other countries are included where no UK-produced ones are available.

NICE Guidelines

High-quality guidelines produced by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence are available from the NICE Web site and also appear in the National Library of Guidelines. Associated documentation is included.

Campbell Library

The Campbell library contains systematic reviews produced by the Campbell Collaboration (C2), an international network dedicated to research on the effects of social interventions in areas related to education, crime and justice, and social welfare. Further resources are available from the Campbell Collaboration home page.

The Cochrane Library

The Cochrane Library includes reliable evidence from Cochrane and other systematic reviews, clinical trials, and more. Cochrane reviews represent the combined results of the world’s best medical research studies, and are recognized as the gold standard in evidence-based healthcare.

The Library includes three databases relevant to the Centre’s mission: The Database of Systematic Reviews (DSR), Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effects (DARE), and the Health Technology AssessmentDatabase (HTA). The Library can be searched and records downloaded for free but access to the full-text reviews and full records from the other databases currently requires a subscription in most of Canada. Public access to the DARE and the HTA Database is also available from the Centre for Reviews and Dissemination (CRD).

DARE

DARE provides access to CRD-produced quality assessments and summaries of non-Cochrane systematic reviews. Records contain a structured abstract addressing various aspects of the review. Particularly valuable is the critical commentary on the review’s quality. The database also lists reviews that have been identified as meeting the screening criteria but have not yet been assessed. DARE focuses on the effects of interventions used in health and social care.

HTA Database

The HTA database contains descriptive abstracts of information on healthcare technology assessments. It is produced in collaboration with the INAHTA Secretariat, based at SBU, Sweden. The database contains records of both ongoing and completed projects by INAHTA members, as well as details on completed technology assessments carried out by INAHTA members and other health technology assessment organizations.

Health-Evidence.ca

Health-evidence.ca offers a registry of systematic and narrative reviews and meta-analyses that have been screened and rated on methodological quality. Records include a summary statement outlining the review contents, methods, findings, and implications for policy and practice. A free login is required to access the registry.

PubMed

PubMed is a service of the U.S. National Library of Medicine that includes approximately 20 million citations from MEDLINE and other life science journals and online books. PubMed includes links to full-text articles (some free) and other related resources.
PubMed includes tools to facilitate the identification of information. Use Clinical Queries to utilize a systematic review filter that finds citations for systematic reviews, meta-analyses, reviews of clinical trials, evidence-based medicine, consensus development conferences, and guidelines. Additionally, user-customized filters can be created and stored in one’s individual account (“My NCBI” (link to ) account in PubMed)

Turning Research Into Practice (TRIP) Database

Using federated searching technology, the TRIP Database aims to provide easy access to the highest-quality material available to help support evidence based clinical practice. It searches a variety of resources, including evidence-based synopses, guideline collections, and clinical questions.

Evidence-Based Practice reports

This page provides access to evidence reports from the Evidence-Based Practice Centres (EPCs) funded by AHRQ.
